What makes it 'advanced laser' cataract surgery?
Key steps of the procedure are performed with laser assistance through a micro-incision rather than entirely by hand. The incision is small enough that stitches are usually not required.
Will it hurt?
The eye is numbed with drops. There is no injection around the eye, and the procedure is designed to be a comfortable, pain-free experience. You stay awake and the team talks you through each stage.
How soon can I get back to normal?
There is no overnight stay. Most patients notice useful vision the same day and return to normal daily activities within 24 hours, though vision continues to settle over the following weeks.
Which lens should I choose?
There is no single best lens. Monofocal, toric, EDOF and trifocal each buy something and cost something — a trifocal offers the widest range of focus and the highest chance of night-time glare. Your measurements, your profession and how much you drive after dark should drive the decision.
How do I know if I am a candidate?
A prescription alone does not decide it. Corneal thickness and shape, pupil size, tear film, eye pressure and the health of the retina and optic nerve all matter. The examination is what makes the answer specific to your eyes.
Are both eyes done on the same day?
Usually a few days apart, so the first eye can be reviewed before the second is planned. The measurements from the first often refine the lens choice for the second.
